Conversations

Conversations are an important part of SmarterTrack’s Community, which is built into the portal as a space where users and administrators can share knowledge, ask questions, and collaborate. In addition to public threads, the Community also supports private conversations through direct messaging, giving members a way to communicate one-on-one while still staying within the portal environment.

How to Send a Direct Message in the Community

  1. In any reply thread, click the user’s avatar or username.
  2. The user’s profile will open, showing details such as join date, last seen, and public information (username, email address, website, work phone, company, and time zone).
  3. On the left side of the profile, locate the Actions card.
  4. Click Send Message.
  5. A message modal will appear. Compose your message using the rich text editor, which supports:
    • Bold, italics, underline
    • Text and background colors
    • Quotes and code blocks
    • Numbered and bulleted lists
    • Hyperlinks
    • File uploads, images, video, and tables
  6. When finished, click Send.
  7. A toast notification will confirm with Message Sent.
  8. To view your conversations:
    • Click your profile avatar in the top-right corner.
    • Select My Conversations.
    • Your inbox will display all conversation threads with individual users.
  9. Open any conversation to view the full message history and continue the exchange.
  10. In the Actions card (next to the composition box), you may also choose Report Abuse or Hide Conversation.
note: Please keep all conversations professional and courteous.

Actions

The Actions card is located to the right of the composition field and provides two options:

  • Hide Conversation

Report Abuse: Allows users to flag inappropriate content for review by a moderator. Abuse can be reported under the following categories:

  • Offensive Content - Content that includes discriminatory, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate language or imagery.
  • Spam - Unsolicited or irrelevant messages intended to advertise, promote, or flood conversations.
  • Harassment - Targeted or repeated behavior intended to threaten, bully, or intimidate another user.

When a message is reported, moderators review the content and determine the appropriate action. If a violation is found, actions may include deleting the content, banning the user, or blocking their IP address. If no violation is found, moderators can approve the content to keep it visible in the community.

Hide Conversation: Users have the option to hide a conversation from their conversation history. This does not delete the conversation, it simply removes it from view until a new message is received.

To hide a conversation:

  1. In the Actions card, click Hide Conversation.
  2. A confirmation modal will appear.
  3. Click Cancel to stop the action, or click Hide to confirm.
note: Once hidden, the conversation will no longer appear in your history. If the other participant sends a new message, the conversation will automatically reappear in your list.
