Video Conferencing

This settings page is only available to domain administrators.

Video conferencing providers let users hold audio and video meetings, including with people outside your organization. Users can start an instant meeting from the New menu or add a meeting to a calendar appointment, and SmarterMail includes the join link in the invitation. SmarterMail has its own built-in provider, SmarterMail Online Meetings, and it can also create meetings in users' Zoom accounts. The Video Conferencing page is where you choose which providers your users can use. To open it, click Domain Settings, then Video Conferencing.

Users see a Video Conferencing page in their own Settings, where they connect their Zoom accounts, set their meeting defaults and manage their online meetings.

Note: SmarterMail Online Meetings and Zoom are features a system administrator turns on for a domain on the Features card. You can only turn them on or off here if the system administrator has also enabled Allow domain administrators to manage integrations for your domain. Otherwise, the page is read-only and shows the message "One or more settings are controlled by your system administrator."

SmarterMail Online Meetings

This feature is only available in SmarterMail Enterprise and SmarterMail Free.

SmarterMail Online Meetings is SmarterMail's built-in video conferencing. Meetings run in the browser with audio, video, screen sharing, chat and file sharing, and guests from outside your organization can join with a link. Meetings support up to 9 video participants, or 16 when the domain uses its own STUN/TURN server, which you can set up on the Online Meeting Video / WebRTC card of your domain's General settings. For how users work with meetings, see Online Meetings.

  • Enable - Turns SmarterMail Online Meetings on or off for the domain.
Note: Online meetings require SmarterMail to be secured with an SSL certificate, because browsers only allow audio and video over HTTPS connections.

Zoom

When Zoom is enabled, each user connects their own Zoom account from their Video Conferencing settings page. Users can then choose Zoom as the video conference provider on a calendar appointment, and SmarterMail creates the Zoom meeting, adds the join link to the appointment and keeps the meeting up to date when the appointment changes. Users can also start instant Zoom meetings from the New menu. Any Zoom account works, including free accounts. For details, see Zoom Integration.

  • Enable - Turns Zoom on or off for the domain.
Note: If your organization's Zoom account only lets members use apps a Zoom administrator has approved, the Zoom administrator will need to approve the SmarterMail app before users can connect their accounts.
